In Literature as a 6th grader, students will get the opportunity to read short stories in many different types of genres. Some examples of the genres they will be exposed to are: Mythology, Biographies, Autobiographies, Articles, Essays, Fables, and Poetry. Students will also study the different parts of literature such as the setting, plot, characters, and theme. After students read, they will answer comprehension questions about what they read or they will complete a project to demonstrate their understanding. Students will also get to read the novel Bridge to Terabithia and do exciting projects that help explain the theme as we read. In addition, students are assigned book reports about every 6 weeks. Students receive a very detailed explanation of their expectations along with a rubric to show how the report will be graded.
