We're Off to Japan!

                                                                                                               WE'RE OFF TO JAPAN!

                                                     We have been to Rome and learned of its rise and fall.  We visited the Byzantine Empire and found out that they were a bit more successful than Rome in keeping its historical structure together.  The study of the spread of Islam across the Middle East helped us understand the intensity of faith-. building among the Muslims.   We ended with the study of the cultures of West Africa and met with the Noks and the Jenne-jennos.  We traveled the Sahara and then on to Ghana, Mali and Songhai.  It is time to move to Asia!

                                                  With the recent devastation of the humungous earthquake and tsunami destruction in Sendai, Japan,  the seventh graders will now explore the culture and the growth of early Japan.   We will learn about how their religion and their societal structure formed the people that they are today.  So 7th graders, we are going off to JAPAN!
